Created by The Glenn Gould Foundation, the international Glenn Gould Prize is intended as a tribute by the people of Canada to the life and work of Glenn Gould. It is awarded every three years to an individual who has earned international recognition as the result of making an exceptional contribution to music and its communication through the use of any of the communications technologies.

As part of the Prize, the Laureate is asked to name a younger person, from anywhere in the world, to be the recipient of the City of Toronto - Glenn Gould International Prize. This year Pierre Boulez chose the talented Montreal-born cellist, Jean-Guihen Queyras, as the recipient of this honor.
